Ryan and I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Lagoon with my family for our annual trip. (well Marie and I discovered this wonderful trick, in January when we set our family goals we announce that we'd like to set the goal to go to Lagoon as a family this upcoming year, thus trapping the family into a trip to Lagoon...it's a goal after all ;) ) It was so much fun. Lagoon is a wonderful family fun spot.
They changed the rules this year and they don't allow any bags of any kind on rides, thus I had to sacrifice and stay with the bag while Dad, Marie and Ryan rode "Cliffhanger." If you look close you'll see them (in that order) in the middle back row of this ride. This ride is one that will get you absolutely soaked. Fun stuff.
I love this picture because it gets all 4 of us. Here we are on the ride "Wicked." This ride is pretty intense. You go straight up and then straight back down. It's so fast that you can only get a scream out at the beginning of the ride the rest of the time you're just trying to catch your breathe.
Here is a picture of "Wicked"
Here we are squeezed onto the "Musik Express" (they are the bad spellers not me). This is the ride that just spins you in a circle while music plays. Sadly Ryan is not a fan of this ride. After a half hour his color returned to normal.
"Rattlesnake Rapids" is another soaker ride. As you can see from Marie's face and shirt you go straight under a waterfall which pounds you with water, thus making Lagoon a perfect place on a hot day.
After Ryan's "fun" time on the Musik Express he decided to be the picture taker while Marie and I enjoyed the "Space Scrambler." I love the crazy feeling this rides gives you. It pulls you in so many different directions. I just laugh and laugh on this ride.
Then we stopped for dinner and a show. They weren't kidding when they bragged about having the biggest corndogs around.
While we were riding the bumper cars my dad got fascinated with this ride called "The SKYCOASTER" so he offered to pay for the three of us to go on it. (It costs extra so when someone gets hurt they have the money to pay for it) I being the oldest and wisest was not swayed by money. Ryan and Marie aren't as wise ;)
They strap you up in these fancy aprons. The white bar they are holding on to is for their feet to push against when they are hanging by their backs.
They load up on to this cart that raises up to meet the bungee cord. Ryan and Marie are getting ready to get strapped in. The two people hanging down are the previous survivors.
After they are strapped up they are slowly dragged up to the top of the "V" you are seeing in this picture. Up there Ryan pulled the cord that released them and they then soared down. The Lagoon workers have a microphone to prompt you to pull the cord. Marie requested they countdown in an accent. Which they did just for her. ;)
They then soar like a big swing over the park. Marie threw up.....her arms in delight.
What goofs ;)
At the end of the ride they grab the lasso to pull themselves to a stop. If you look close you'll see Ryan's tongue out in concentration, it makes me laugh.
Lagoon is wicked expensive (which theme park isn't) but they offer this sweet deal. If you return within 10 days of your visit you can get into the park for only $10 rather then $50. So Ryan and I returned yesterday to the land of Lagoon. My camera is currently broken so I don't have any pictures except some we took on our iphones.
Here is Ryan on his rooster on the famous Merry-Go-Round.
Here we both are on the famous "White Roller Coaster"
My favorite part of our trip was when we rode "The Rocket." On the Rocket they just take you straight up to the top of this tower (SLOWLY) at the top there is a little jerk that freaks you out. Then the ride simply drops you, you bounce a couple of times before coming down to the bottom again.
I hate Hate HATE heights, but Ryan was sweet enough to ride the "Space Scrambler" with me so I decided to man up and go on the Rocket with him. I'm pretty sure I squeezed all the blood out of his hand the whole ride. But honestly I have come to like (not love yet) the Rocket ride. Before Ryan I wouldn't even consider this ride, WAY too scary, but my good husband has expanded my view and I can now say that I will go on the Rocket without much of a fight and come off it liking the experience. Give me a few more years and I'll probably end up Loving the ride. Thank you Husband. I love you!
This week hasn't been all fun. Both Ryan and I have gotten back into work. Me setting up my classroom and Ryan taking the Express Bus (now don't you dare feel bad for him the bus has personal AC's, wireless internet and bus attendants (according to Ryan)) down to BYU to do some work for Professor Sam.
Summer is coming to an end and I am honestly so excited for school. ;) We only have the Davidson Lake Powell trip to survive before we are back to boring old life.
