First Week

Sad news, our camera is currently not working. It has been awful not having a camera we are saving for a new one at the moment. I haven't wanted to post without pictures to post as well but thankfully I have a wonderful Iphone with a wonderful camera so until we get a new camera we will be using our phones.

Look at this crazy Rooster. He has bigfoot feet.

This week my family got family photos at Wheeler Farm, where we saw this nice friendly Rooster. Anywho it was so much fun to get dressed up and take family photos. They turned out really well, we'll have them back in about 10 days so be looking.

Look at my cute door decorations.

School started this past week. I survived my first week and this group of students are going to make for an interesting year. They are a chatty group. On Friday a third grader (not mine) kicked another third grader (mine) in the mouth! When I tried to ask the injured boy what happened he couldn't talk due to the blood in his mouth. Fun stuff :) But I really am excited to be back in the classroom doing what I do best.

Ryan starts school on Monday and he is so excited. This past weekend he volunteered as a "Y Group Leader" for New Student Orientation. He loved being able to show the new Freshmen around campus and will continue to mentor them throughout the school year.

I must go marinate the porkchops for tomorrow so I must go.

Lake Powell Family Edition

A week at Lake Powell with the whole Davidson Family.......will Ryan survive?

I have been going to Lake Powell with the Davidson family since I was born. Everytime we go its a new adventure. We've survived Flash Floods, Wind Storms, Glass Doors, Tube Wars, Lightining, and so much more. It's the trip of the year, we love it. The rule is you have to have a ring and a date before you can come down if you aren't family. Sadly last year Ryan didn't met the requirements but after hearing on all he missed out he jumped straight on it. Thus last week was Ryan's first trip to Powell with the fam.

Here's a brief look at what we did.

Ryan wakeboarded.
Steve played the Ukulele. This year we even had a theme song the lyrics will show up soon.

We did some epic tube wars. If you look close you'll see Devan with a blindfold on. We had to move Devan 8 times blindfolded. FUN STUFF!!

We got some tattoos

We camped at TableTop Canyon, thus Jace and I had to make some memorable eating places.

Ryan also surfed....no big.

We jumped in a mud pit. Thankfully Tyce volunteered to go first and clear up the muck.

We found the perfect log for competitions. Marie won...no suprise there.

We lost an Ipod, we found the Ipod.

First trip for Ryan, no worries lets just put him in charge of the whole houseboat for a few hours.

Jackson kissed a fish

We swam.

We sat on a boat.

So the question isn't will Ryan survive it's will Ryan survive the wait till next August?! ;)

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. I love all the crazy things we are able to do together. Thanks fam!

Lagoon 1 & 2

Ryan and I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Lagoon with my family for our annual trip. (well Marie and I discovered this wonderful trick, in January when we set our family goals we announce that we'd like to set the goal to go to Lagoon as a family this upcoming year, thus trapping the family into a trip to Lagoon...it's a goal after all ;) ) It was so much fun. Lagoon is a wonderful family fun spot.

They changed the rules this year and they don't allow any bags of any kind on rides, thus I had to sacrifice and stay with the bag while Dad, Marie and Ryan rode "Cliffhanger." If you look close you'll see them (in that order) in the middle back row of this ride. This ride is one that will get you absolutely soaked. Fun stuff.

I love this picture because it gets all 4 of us. Here we are on the ride "Wicked." This ride is pretty intense. You go straight up and then straight back down. It's so fast that you can only get a scream out at the beginning of the ride the rest of the time you're just trying to catch your breathe.
Here is a picture of "Wicked"

Here we are squeezed onto the "Musik Express" (they are the bad spellers not me). This is the ride that just spins you in a circle while music plays. Sadly Ryan is not a fan of this ride. After a half hour his color returned to normal.
"Rattlesnake Rapids" is another soaker ride. As you can see from Marie's face and shirt you go straight under a waterfall which pounds you with water, thus making Lagoon a perfect place on a hot day.
After Ryan's "fun" time on the Musik Express he decided to be the picture taker while Marie and I enjoyed the "Space Scrambler." I love the crazy feeling this rides gives you. It pulls you in so many different directions. I just laugh and laugh on this ride.

Then we stopped for dinner and a show. They weren't kidding when they bragged about having the biggest corndogs around.
While we were riding the bumper cars my dad got fascinated with this ride called "The SKYCOASTER" so he offered to pay for the three of us to go on it. (It costs extra so when someone gets hurt they have the money to pay for it) I being the oldest and wisest was not swayed by money. Ryan and Marie aren't as wise ;)
They strap you up in these fancy aprons. The white bar they are holding on to is for their feet to push against when they are hanging by their backs.
They load up on to this cart that raises up to meet the bungee cord. Ryan and Marie are getting ready to get strapped in. The two people hanging down are the previous survivors.
After they are strapped up they are slowly dragged up to the top of the "V" you are seeing in this picture. Up there Ryan pulled the cord that released them and they then soared down. The Lagoon workers have a microphone to prompt you to pull the cord. Marie requested they countdown in an accent. Which they did just for her. ;)
They then soar like a big swing over the park. Marie threw up.....her arms in delight.
What goofs ;)
At the end of the ride they grab the lasso to pull themselves to a stop. If you look close you'll see Ryan's tongue out in concentration, it makes me laugh.

Lagoon is wicked expensive (which theme park isn't) but they offer this sweet deal. If you return within 10 days of your visit you can get into the park for only $10 rather then $50. So Ryan and I returned yesterday to the land of Lagoon. My camera is currently broken so I don't have any pictures except some we took on our iphones.

Here is Ryan on his rooster on the famous Merry-Go-Round.
Here we both are on the famous "White Roller Coaster"

My favorite part of our trip was when we rode "The Rocket." On the Rocket they just take you straight up to the top of this tower (SLOWLY) at the top there is a little jerk that freaks you out. Then the ride simply drops you, you bounce a couple of times before coming down to the bottom again.
I hate Hate HATE heights, but Ryan was sweet enough to ride the "Space Scrambler" with me so I decided to man up and go on the Rocket with him. I'm pretty sure I squeezed all the blood out of his hand the whole ride. But honestly I have come to like (not love yet) the Rocket ride. Before Ryan I wouldn't even consider this ride, WAY too scary, but my good husband has expanded my view and I can now say that I will go on the Rocket without much of a fight and come off it liking the experience. Give me a few more years and I'll probably end up Loving the ride. Thank you Husband. I love you!

This week hasn't been all fun. Both Ryan and I have gotten back into work. Me setting up my classroom and Ryan taking the Express Bus (now don't you dare feel bad for him the bus has personal AC's, wireless internet and bus attendants (according to Ryan)) down to BYU to do some work for Professor Sam.
Summer is coming to an end and I am honestly so excited for school. ;) We only have the Davidson Lake Powell trip to survive before we are back to boring old life.

how do you walk a sheep

My husband is acting like a foolish fool at the moment since I decided to blog at 11pm but I HAVE to tell you of the wonders we saw on our way home from the movie theater tonight.
Before I do that I should probably tell you about the wonderful movie we saw tonight for FHE. We invited Momma & Poppa Woodbury to the theater with us to watch the movie "17 Miracles." It's a movie about the Willie/Martin Handcart Company of pioneers who got stuck in Wyoming. They ran out of food 200 miles away from the Salt Lake Valley and then got slammed by a blizzard with insufficient clothing. It truly was an inspiring movie. I really wanted to let loose and just bawl but since I was in the theater I controlled my tears, but there were a lot of sniffles all through the theater. It was a wonderful FHE activity.

OK now on to the crazy.

We live in West Jordan next to a park, well today we got a lot of rain and the park got flooded. On our way to the theater there were tons of people out playing in the water in swimming suits. They even had a couple blow up boats out on the temporary lake.
On the way home from the movie. I noticed two kids out in the middle with what looked like a wakeboard strapped to one of them. "That's a crazy way to practice," I thought to myself. Then as we sat at the red light I heard a motor and a bunch of kids cheering. I looked out the window and there was a group of teenagers who hooked up a motor and were trying to pull up the kid on the wakeboard. They got pretty close (closer then I would have thought possible) The kid strapped into the wakeboard was actually pulled up and over the board. It was hilarious. Who'd of thunk?!?!!?!
While Ryan and I were recovering from the scene, trying to get our heads around the bizarreness of the event we passed four kids toting four big dogs along the sidewalk. As we looked closer we noticed that we weren't looking at 4 large dogs we were actually seeing 4 kids walking 4 lambs down the sidewalk!
What are the odds of seeing 2 crazy things in one night? I'd say 1 in a 1,000,000!

Now you understand why I just HAD to blog about this tonight!!!

I love my new neighborhood. (Even if we got an egg thrown at our door)
