Spring Break 2014

This year for Spring Break we really needed to get away but due to limited money supply we didn't have a lot of options. We really would have loved to go somewhere warm. This winter has been never ending (it just snowed 7 inches last night). Lucky for us we are very close to lots of church history, Kirtland is 4 hours away, Nauvoo is 6 hours, New York is 6. We decided to keep it simple and go see Kirtland. It was an excellent choice.

Lincoln did great in the car. The weather was wonderful. The sites were amazing. Next time we go we'll be more prepared. We got there and realized how little we remembered from church history.

Lately Linc has been pulling these cheesy smiles.

After a 4 hour drive we were ready to get out and look around.

At the hotel Linc was moving more then I have ever seen him move. I guess sitting in a carseat for 4 hours will give you that motivation. We skyped my dad and wished him a happy birthday. It was fun to have Linc so active for the call. He even clapped when Darla prompted him to do it.

We had a very rough night since Linc developed a cough and it was a new place to sleep. We had a nice relaxing morning with an extra nap for Mom and Baby before heading out to the Kirtland Temple, John Johnson Farm and the N. K. Whitney Store.

At the Kirtland Cemetery we found a relative on my Mother's side. It was amazing to see all the old gravestones.

We then stopped by Snow home. Ryan thinks he is related to Eliza R. Snow. We'll need to double check this but it was still a neat old house to see.

We rearranged Linc's carseat so it isn't as reclined. He can now see the tree tops out the window. He was mesmerized.

We ended the day where we started, the N. K. Whitney store. It was nice to see it again when we weren't so tired from a long drive.

After seeing everything we got back in the car and were home by 10pm.
It was short but perfect. I never felt rushed and it was good to sleep in our own beds, especially since Linc's cough hasn't gotten any better.
We're excited to return soon.

Before Spring Break I watched my friends son, Caleb, for a little less then an hour while she had a job interview. It was so fun to watch them interact. Linc is at a stage where he loves to watch other people, especially kids and babies. I hope these two become good friends.
