Arctic Chill

Ryan came home today around 1. Campus has been closed until tomorrow night. I also got a call from Once Upon a Child telling me they were closing early so not to come in. Looks like we're in another "state of emergency" due to the chill. They say we'll hit -40 tonight. Tomorrow the high is -2.

Linc loves having daddy home to play.

 The snow.
Our building is 3 stories. I promise. ;)

I snuck into the empty apartment on the bottom floor and here is their wonderful view.

Ryan is loving this time to catch up on his sleep.

Head Scan

So yesterday was quite the stinky day for Linc. He started the day bright and early at an 8am head scan. Our physical therapist, Maria, noticed his head was mis-shaped so she referred us for a head scan. I was super nervous about what it would entail since Linc does not like to be restrained and usually for these kinds of things they don't want any wiggling. It was so painless it was amazing.

First the doctor went through a pamphlet about head shapes and helmets. He kept assuring me that Linc probably wouldn't need one. Then Linc sat on the end of my knees and we put on his totally amazing head scan hat. The doctor then took what looks like a police radar gun and scanned his little noggin. Little man did a great job.

After the scan was done which only took maybe 5 minutes Linc nursed while the doctor and I looked over the scan. Turns out Lincoln will be sporting a helmet. It was somewhat funny when the doctor told me the news. He got very serious and asked if I needed any tissues, thinking I would be very upset. I laughed and told him a helmet is nothing compared to heart surgery.

I am not excited about the helmet but I'm not upset about it. I know it will only be for a little bit.
Plus we get to choose our own pattern. What pattern do you think is the bomb-diggity? Tell us in the comments.

We got home and Linc was very tired since he missed his morning nap. I put him down but it didn't last long since we had to get ready to go to his 6 month pediatric appointment.
Here is the little angel before shots. These shots were the worst. Before when he got shots he would cry but would be soothed pretty fast afterwards. This time he was so mad. Linc was so upset he was choking on his own tears. It broke my heart. But good news we're done with shots for 6 more months, and I'll probably make Ryan go to that appointment.

After his appointment he tried to sleep but kept waking himself up. Oh he was a grumpy baby last night. By 6pm he was done for the day. He took a quick bath and then hit the sack. Slept like a rock. Didn't wake up til 9am.

We're not sure when the helmet will be here since they have to go through our insurance company but once its here Linc will be wearing it 23 hours a day for up to 7 months. So pick a good pattern.
Here is a random picture of my very attractive husband.

Polar Vortex

This last week was the Polar Vortex which left South Bend in a state of emergency with highs of -30 degrees.... we were in nice warm Utah which was more like 30 degrees. ;)

It was a huge rush to get to Utah. We bought our tickets on Tuesday and flew out Thursday.

We flew to Utah on Thursday and went straight down to the Ski Chalet in Beaver. Uncle Jon and Chase were there as well. Ryan got two days of skiing in and I got to join him on Saturday. It was so fun to hang out at the condo, it was even better to hit the slopes while Darla watched Linc. It worked out perfectly. I would do a couple runs then go feed Linc then head back out. This condo my dad bought has really been amazing.

Me sporting the classic condo look.

Linc loves bouncing. This was the lovely jumper at the condo.

Saturday night Jill and her family drove up from St. George to meet us at a local diner. They were so excited to see Linc. I forgot my camera but lucky for me Kela had her nice one so these are all her pictures.

We had so much fun visiting family and friends. We really didn't do a whole lot of exciting things but it was just wonderful to be with family.

Some highlights are:
-cafe rio
-visiting Bennion and seeing former students
-going on a date without baby
-having Mark take me to Rita's for my anniversary. (Ryan was already home)

Here are some of the pictures I did get.

Sophie decided she wanted a mustache as amazing as Ryan's. She used fruit roll ups for this look.

Ryan left for Notre Dame on Saturday. I spent a couple more days then I left on Wednesday morning.
Dad took us to the airport. It was smooth sailing on the plane. Linc slept in my lap to Denver and then got his own seat to Chicago.

We loved spending time in Utah but were excited to get back to our normal life in ND.

Oh and look at this cuteness.
